Our annual trip to Broadstairs got off to a great start as a full coach of eager day-trippers set off for the coast. With the recent spell of exceptionally hot weather, many of us were wondering how we would cope with the heat. As it turned out, there was no need to worry. On arriving at the beach, we were greeted by a refreshing sea breeze. In fact, after becoming accustomed to the recent temperatures, it felt decidedly chilly—though not genuinely cold. Eve, who was with our small group on the beach, even found herself wrapped in two towels over her rather skimpy beach top in an effort to keep warm.


After a leisurely lunch, the sunshine began to win the battle, and the afternoon turned into perfect beach weather. Eve and her friends were soon making the most of it, enjoying a refreshing swim and spending the rest of the day in the sea. As evening approached, everyone climbed back onto the coach pleasantly tired after a wonderful day by the seaside. Judging by the smiles on our final group photograph, our delightfully motley crew had thoroughly enjoyed another memorable Broadstairs outing. Carol Fryer
